Adriatico. Mare d'inverno

Last winter, I embarked on a journey along the Adriatic coast, from Trieste to Otranto, capturing many of the images featured in the book Adriatico. Mare d’inverno, conceived and curated by Cristiana Colli and published by Artem.
Between December 2023 and March 2024, I traveled approximately 4,000 km and took around 1,000 photographs.

During the journey, I captured points of interest suggested by the authors of the texts, while other shots emerged spontaneously, inspired by moments that compelled me to stop along the way.

The waters that meet, the gold of empires, the flight and song of birds, the white architecture, the endless beaches. The Adriatic is the sea of languages and alphabets, the amphibious land between Trieste and Otranto, a millennia-old infrastructure for peoples and ideas—a sea of journeys, trade, and pilgrimages between East and West, North and South, East and West.
